Sulfurol are organic compounds with a yellowish liquid form that are non-volatile, non-flammable and explosive, non-corrosive, and non-toxic. It can be dissolved in organic solvents such as alcohols, ethers, and benzene, but is usually insoluble in water.

There are several preparation methods：
(1) First use α-acetyl-γ-butyrolactone as a raw material, through chlorination and carboxyl hydrolysis and other reactions, you can get 4-methyl-5 -(β-hydroxyethyl) -thiazole.
(2) It can be prepared by using 3-halogen-3-acetylpropanol and thioformamide as raw materials. Ethyl acetoacetate reacts with ethylene oxide under the action of an oxidizing agent, then hydrolyzes in an acidic medium, and then reacts with thioformamide to obtain Sulfurol.
(3) It can be synthesized by reacting 2, 3-dichloro-2-methyl-tetrahydrofuran or the corresponding dibromine compound with thioformamide. The addition of organic acid esters in the reaction is beneficial to increase the yield. However, the higher price of the raw material 2, 3-dichloro-2-methyl-tetrahydrofuran itself increases the cost.
(4) Gamma-butyrolactone and thioformamide were used as raw materials for preparation. 2-methyl-2, 3-dichloro-4, 5-dihydrofuran can be obtained by acetylation of gamma-butyrolactone and then cyclization and chlorination.
(5) Thiazole was obtained by reaction of formamide and 2, 3-dichloro-tetrahydrorosin in organic solution。
